The women of WWE have always sat out the events in Saudi Arabia. Since WWE signed a 10-year deal with the Saudi officials, the women’s division hasn’t competed in a single match in the country. Crown Jewel 2019 is going to be the 4th Saudi pay-per-view in a row where there will be no female wrestlers.

The Prince of Saudi Arabia is working on giving women their rights gradually, which is a good thing since they had been suppressed before. Earlier this year, there were reports that women would be allowed to compete in Saudi Arabia in 2019, but those were clearly false.

WWE made an attempt on having a women’s match in Saudi Arabia at Super ShowDown back in June when they brought Alexa Bliss and Natalya alongside them to the Kingdom. However, the match was scrapped later on.

WWE has been a big player in the women’s revolution, which is why they’ve been criticized for holding events in Saudi Arabia. However, their COO Triple H claimed in an interview that they have to respect the culture of the country where they perform.

Renee Young was not allowed to be at the first Saudi pay-per-view, but she joined the commentary team at Saudi events since Crown Jewel last year. Hopefully, women will soon be allowed to compete in the Kingdom with the Prince bringing social changes.
