• “Listen, you’ve got to tone it down” – Vince McMahon To WWF Legend

On an episode of his weekly podcast ‘The Kurt Angle Show’, the Olympic Hero talked about his famous 2-out-of-3 falls match against Chris Benoit at the WWF Judgment Day 2001 pay-per-view.

Kurt revealed that he was louder than other WWF Wrestlers while calling stuff in the ring, which is actually a lost art nowadays (with matches being fully scripted), but was a common thing during the good old days.

WWF promoter Mr. McMahon was upset about hearing him calling moves & high spots in the ring, so Vince told Angle to tone it down.

Here’s what the 2017 WWE Hall Of Famer had to say:

“Vince McMahon, he told me, yeah. He said, ‘Listen, you’ve got to tone it down, the TV is picking up on you calling the spots’. And I said, ‘Vince, I can’t help it. I want my opponent to know where he is going in any particular moment’.

So, I called the match, not only for my opponent but for myself too, and I’m pretty loud with it. I’ve always been that way.

I never changed, even though Vince McMahon talked to me a couple more times, I still did it.

I just felt being safe more than sorry was a better choice.”
