Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.

• Seth Rollins made a successful return to WWE after recovering from a knee injury. However, his comeback was short-lived as he was attacked by Bronson Reed on the August 5th episode of RAW, leading to Rollins being sidelined once more. This attack has likely delayed his much-anticipated feud with CM Punk until 2025.

Reports suggest that Rollins has been dealing with chronic health issues, influencing WWE’s decision to temporarily remove him from television. WWE has announced that Rollins will be out of action indefinitely.

The rivalry between CM Punk and Seth Rollins began to emerge at SummerSlam, with Rollins taunting Punk during a match against Drew McIntyre, leading to a heated confrontation. The seeds of this feud were planted as early as Survivor Series 2023 when Rollins was held back by WWE officials as Punk made his comeback.

Triple H confirmed during the WrestleMania 40 documentary that Rollins vs. Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship was planned for the Show of Shows, but Punk got injured.

According to PWInsider, WWE may postpone the official start of the Rollins-Punk feud until 2025. Despite Punk’s ongoing feud with McIntyre, which is expected to continue through Bash In Berlin and possibly longer, WWE sources indicate that the Rollins-Punk storyline might be delayed due to the new WWE regime’s emphasis on long-term planning.

• During an interview with Instinct Culture, John Cena was asked about coming to grips with his WWE retirement.

Here’s what the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion said:

“That’s a great question. It’s something I’ve been preparing for a long time. If you backtrack interviews, I started talking about that in maybe 2019. I’m ready for it. Now is the perfect time to do it.

I have a little bit of time in 2025 and the WWE has been awesome in working with schedules and everything. They thought it was a great idea. They kind of ran with the idea.

We expanded it to a year. 36 Dates. I feel great. It’s a happy thing. I’m not going to tell anyone how to feel because I don’t believe in that, but I’m going to approach it with an upbeat attitude.”
