Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving WrestleMania 41 and Drew McIntyre.
• At Bad Blood, the interaction between WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther appeared to hint at a potential future match between the two at a premium live event.
Goldberg’s return is somewhat surprising given his previous frustration with WWE, where he claimed the company didn’t honor promises of giving him a proper retirement match. This promise was made to him by Vince McMahon.
While it seems Goldberg will finally get his wish, it’s unclear when the match will happen. Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia seemed like a possibility, especially since Goldberg used to earn $2 million per match there, but Gunther is already scheduled to face Cody Rhodes for the Crown Jewel Championship at that event.
The Wrestling Observer reports that the match between Goldberg and Gunther is not planned for Survivor Series 2024 or WrestleMania 41, stating, “Again, things can always change but Mania doesn’t seem to be when we’ll see Gunther vs. Goldberg.”
Another possible timing for the match could be at the Royal Rumble or when WWE returns to Saudi Arabia in 2025. If Goldberg wrestles next year, he will be 58 years old.

• WWE Bad Blood kicked off with CM Punk defeating Drew McIntyre in a brutal Hell in a Cell match, where both wrestlers bled.
McIntyre reportedly suffered a head wound from a toolbox shot by Punk, requiring 16 staples to close the gash. According to PWInsider, the match brought back a sense of danger and intensity that Hell in a Cell matches used to have.
The Wrestling Observer reported that Punk was initially the only one supposed to bleed, with McIntyre’s injury being unplanned:
“Backstage and at ringside they were panicking because of how bad the wound was and that he was so bloody and it wouldn’t stop. They, at first, talked about having the doctor get in the cage and try to stop the bleeding but the decision was made not to do it because it was Hell in a Cell.”
McIntyre assured WWE officials that if he felt unwell, he would signal to end the match. Despite the injury, there were no signs of a concussion, and the match continued as planned.
