So far, WWE has announced the following matches for Survivor Series 2023:
– WarGames Match: World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso & Sami Zayn vs. The Judgment Day (Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Finn Bálor & Mr. Money In The Bank Damian Priest and NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio) & JD McDonagh
– Intercontinental Championship Match: Gunther (c) vs. The Miz
– Women’s World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Zoey Stark
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE will make a change to the Men’s WarGames match and add Drew McIntyre to Judgment Day’s side (thus officially completing his long rumored, slow-burn heel turn), which will lead to a babyface being added to the other side.
According to Fightful Select, the plan as of a few months ago was for this mystery babyface to be the returning Randy Orton:
“That’s been the working plan for the match for months now. Specifically, McIntyre has been planned for the heel/Judgment Day side of things, making it a 5-man team.
The plan since this summer for the babyface side was a returning Randy Orton, with the reveal tentatively planned before the day of the show as to avoid any CM Punk speculation.
As with anything, it’s important to note that creative plans often change, albeit far less these days than in previous years. However, in recent months, Orton and McIntyre were both in the plans.”
Randy Orton was last seen on WWE TV on the May 20th 2022 episode of SmackDown, where him and Matt Riddle lost the RAW Tag Team Championship to The Usos in a Title Unification Match.
Orton has been training at the WWE Performance Center for a while now, for his return.
