• Matt Cardona Threatens Former WWE Star With Legal Action
Last month, before the May 2nd episode of SmackDown, WWE released 17 wrestlers, including Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, Katana Chance, and many more. While all of these Superstars were released, Shotzi’s contract was not renewed. Soon, around a month later, Shotzi made her in-ring return on Hoodslam’s ‘Fearless’ event in Oakland, CA on June 6. Following her return to in-ring action, the former WWE star has frequently referred to herself as the ‘New Indy God’, taking a dig at Matt Cardona’s ‘Indy God’ persona.
This didn’t sit well with the former Intercontinental Champion, who threatened to hit Shotzi with ‘legal action’ if she continued to use the moniker. Sharing his statement on X, Cardona wrote:
“Shotzi has 24 hours to publicly apologize to me and take down all posts referring to herself as Indy God and Death Match King. The United States of America recognizes ME as BOTH! I don’t want to send @gimmickattorney after you…but I will! THIS IS NOT A JOKE!”

• Backstage News On CM Punk Agreeing To Go To Saudi Arabia
In the main event of Night of Champions 2025 in Saudi Arabia on June 28, CM Punk will challenge John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This match was made official on the post-Money In The Bank edition of RAW. Back in 2020, Punk said the following to The Miz regarding WWE’s business relationship with Saudi Arabia:
“Go suck a blood money covered d*ck in Saudi Arabia you f**king dork.”
Cena mocked Punk on Instagram by sharing an image of The Miz in a match at a Saudi Arabia PLE:
The Wrestling Observer reported the following about Punk agreeing to go to Saudi Arabia:
“He could not go to Saudi Arabia if he really wanted to not go. He was going months ago. I had already asked about that a couple of months ago when the show was first talked about, and he was in the original promo package, and then he was taken out of the promo package. And I asked, am I supposed to see when Seth Rollins replaced him in that promo package that he’s not going, and it’s like, ‘Nope, he’s going.’
So it’s been known he’s going for months, probably all along. I don’t know if he ever voiced any issue with going at any point since he signed, but he hasn’t in months. I know that.”
The last WWE Championship match between Cena and Punk took place at Night of Champions 2012. 13 Years later, they will square off for the final time at Night of Champions 2025.
