Matt Hardy Relinquishes TNA World Title

Matt Hardy as the WWF European Champion

Matt Hardy became the TNA World Heavyweight Champion at Bound For Glory 2015. Hardy pinned Drew Galloway (f.k.a Drew McIntyre in WWE) to win the title, so former champion Ethan Carter III wasn’t even involved in the finish. It should be noted that Jeff Hardy was the special guest referee for the match.

We noted yesterday how Matt Hardy’s first storyline as TNA World Heavyweight Champion has already begun as EC3 has obtained an injunction against Matt Hardy, and Matt Hardy has been banned from TNA Impact Wrestling.

In an update to that, Matt Hardy made a shocking announcement (as seen in the video above) that he forfeits the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. The reason he gave for it is that the TNA fans should have a World Champion on TV. TNA Wrestling will address this situation regarding the TNA World Title on tonight’s Impact Wrestling episode.

This is indeed a storyline on TNA’s behalf as they try to make their product a little bit interesting and appealing. TNA Wrestling is currently in talks with four other TV stations who might carry TNA Impact Wrestling, one of them being WGN America.
