Former United States Champion Matt Riddle was released from WWE during the round of releases which took place at the end of September.

Riddle recently alleged that he was sexually assaulted at the JFK Airport in Queens, New York.

He was sent into rehab after violating WWE’s Wellness Policy twice last year and returned on the RAW after WrestleMania 39 earlier this year.

WWE didn’t have any solid plans for The Original Bro since his return, and he had subtly expressed his disappointment over his booking in the company on social media a few times.

WrestleVotes reported that WWE had plans in place for his Tag Team with Drew McIntyre to be called “McRiddle”.

Since those plans didn’t work, Riddle is currently working on launching his own cannabis strain titled “Riddle OG”.

However, Riddle isn’t leaving the world of combat sports completely. There were talks that were expected to take place regarding Jake Paul vs. Matt Riddle in a Boxing Match. At best, the discussions right now are being categorized as “very preliminary”.

According to the Wrestling Observer, many MMA and pro wrestling companies are interested in signing Riddle:

“Regarding Matt Riddle, his people have already been in talks with a number of Pro-Wrestling, MMA and Boxing companies regarding working there. The only two that have come out are PFL and Bare Knuckle Boxing. Nothing can be announced until December when his non-compete ends, and yes, his non-compete does extend to MMA and Boxing.”

In an update, Riddle’s first post-WWE match has been announced. It will be against WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam at the “Big Time Wrestling The Reunion 3” event on March 9th 2024 in Chillicothe, Ohio.
