• “Mick Foley has just become my favorite person in the world” – WWF Veteran

Earlier today, Mick Foley announced that he has ended his relationship with WWE. Here’s the statement issued by the Hall of Famer:

“PARTING WAYS WITH WWE

While I have been concerned about WWE‘s close relationship with Donald Trump for several months — especially in light of his administration’s ongoing cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants (and pretty much anyone who “looks like an immigrant”) — reading the President’s incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death is the final straw for me.

I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy. Last night, I informed WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office.

Additionally, I will not be signing a new Legends deal when my current one expires in June. I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities they afforded me. But, in the words of Popeye the sailor, ‘I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more.'”

WWF Veteran Jim Cornette had the following to say about this:

“I want to state publicly that while I’ve always liked [Mick Foley], he has just become my favorite person in the world. I wish all the boys had his backbone and, more importantly, his morals.”

• WWE’s Big Decision Coming Out Of John Cena’s Retirement Show Revealed

While the world was focused on John Cena’s retirement at Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE was busy testing the waters for its next generation of talent. Management was reportedly thrilled with how several NXT stars performed in Washington, D.C., and expectations are high that multiple call-ups are right around the corner.

According to the Wrestling Observer, the event served as a high-pressure trial for developmental talent. Wrestlers like NXT Champion Oba Femi, Sol Ruca, Je’Von Evans, and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater are no longer just being considered for the future – they are viewed as ready for the main roster now.

Femi and the duo of Evans and Slater received particularly strong reactions from the live crowd, which solidified the company’s belief in their potential as top-tier stars.

The timing of recent NXT storylines also hints at these changes. For instance, Je’Von Evans’ recent loss in the NXT Championship match is seen as a way to clear his schedule for an immediate jump to the main roster.

Even Joe Hendry, who appeared in a segment on Saturday Night’s Main Event, is considered a guaranteed success due to his natural charisma and the way fans connect with his character.

While some, like Sol Ruca, might have a slightly longer path to the top as they continue to develop, WWE officials see immense athletic talent across the board.

The company appears ready to pivot from the Cena era by betting heavily on these fresh faces to lead the way forward.

Je’Von Evans already got involved in a storyline on this week’s RAW. In a backstage segment, General Manager Adam Pearce told Evans that he has his attention after Saturday Night’s Main Event. El Grande Americano interrupted and talked crap about Je’Von, so Pearce said one of the Americanos (Rayo Americano) can face Je’Von next week on RAW.
