• Mick Foley Says Barbed Wire & Deathmatch Didn’t Suit Former AEW World Champion
In the main event of the AEW Revolution 2021 pay-per-view, Kenny Omega successfully defended his AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley (fka Dean Ambrose in WWE) in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.
On a recent episode of his weekly ‘Foley Is Pod’ podcast, WWF Legend Mick Foley spoke about the deathmatch stipulation in general, after competing in several ones himself back in the day.
Mick stated that booking Omega in such a match just wasn’t a good fit at all.
Here’s what the former Cactus Jack had to say:
“I’m not sure barbed wire is the best way to take advantage of Kenny’s huge gifts. They had a little trouble with the stipulations.
You either stay on one side of the road or the other. If you design it to be in the middle, it gets squashed like a grape, even if that’s just emotionally.”
