John Cena was last seen on WWE programming at Crown Jewel 2023, where he lost to Solo Sikoa.
Cena is set to begin filming the second season of Peacemaker, so having a match at WrestleMania 40 won’t be possible due to insurance issues.
With that being said, an appearance at WrestleMania XL by the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion is not out of the question, as WWE has discussed non-risky things for Cena at the Show of Shows.
Here’s what the Wrestling Observer reported:
“Cena will soon be filming a second season of Peacemaker. There has been some talk about Cena at Mania. It’s basically up to his acting schedule and if there is something going on.
If there is, he may appear but couldn’t do anything that would be deemed a risk.
We were told that if he does appear, the idea is to do something fun, short and memorable and with substance.”
Cena appeared on First Take this morning, where he was asked the following question:
“Every time you get an opportunity to throw the three piece (suit) on, you’re always ready to go. But the true question is, three piece or jorts?”
In his response, Cena teased an appearance at WrestleMania 40:
“It depends if we’re talking WrestleMania 40, crossing my fingers. I hope the shorts are there. If we’re talking First Take, I will do my best to put on a waistcoat.”
Speaking of Cena, Chris Van Vliet recently asked him which one of his 16 World Title wins is his favorite.
Here’s what Cena said:
“My next one. I have often said that the time is coming for me to hang them up and I’m not lying when I say, but it’s not tomorrow. It’s probably soon but not tomorrow, so you never know.”
Cena has noted in recent interviews that he’ll retire from WWE by the time he’s 50 years old, which means he has 3 more years left as an in-ring performer.
