Below are some top WWE news stories of the day.

• Santos Escobar has quickly made his mark on SmackDown after transitioning from NXT, bringing along his Legado del Fantasma teammates Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro, with Zelina Vega joining the group. After a falling out with Rey Mysterio’s LWO, Escobar stood alone until December 2023, when he joined forces with Angel and Berto, formerly known as Los Lotharios, and reunited with Elektra Lopez, making Legado del Fantasma a formidable faction once again.

On the August 16 edition of SmackDown, Escobar introduced a new name for Angel and Berto, calling them “Los Garza”.

According to Fightful Select, “Los Garza” was the name used on WWE run sheets to refer to Angel and Berto, rather than just Legado del Fantasma. However, it was also noted that multiple names are often used interchangeably on run sheets, with previous strict naming rules being more relaxed.

• At the Fanatics Fest, RAW Superstar Drew McIntyre said he’s gonna do whatever it takes to get to face John Cena during Cena’s retirement tour in 2025.

Here’s what McIntyre said:

“I’ve been pushing and nudging them left and right to make it happen because the amount of stories I got on (CM) Punk when I was younger, I got ten fold on [John Cena].

There was never a one on one match, if I have to drive management crazy, I’ll drive them crazy, I’ll drive John crazy, I’m gonna get that match and I’ll tear him apart on the microphone, which not everyone can do, in the ring and send him packing in a happy retirement and hopefully Punk along with him.”

• Roman Reigns made a dramatic return to WWE at SummerSlam, where he took out Solo Sikoa, helping Cody Rhodes retain the Undisputed WWE Championship, which Rhodes won from Reigns at WrestleMania 40. After his loss, Reigns took a break from WWE, leaving Solo Sikoa to reshape The Bloodline by bringing in Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu while banishing Jimmy Uso and Paul Heyman.

Speaking at Fanatics Fest, WWE President Nick Khan discussed the enduring impact of Roman Reigns and The Bloodline storyline on the company:

“It’s the gift that keeps on giving to the fans. You’ve seen with Triple H and creative, Roman, what everybody has done together. One thing leads to another and it keeps on living at a high level. We’re really proud of that.”
