• New Version Of “Virgil” Coming To WWE?

LA Knight (fka Eli Drake in IMPACT Wrestling) won the Million Dollar Championship at NXT TakeOver: In Your House and then turned on WWF Legend Ted DiBiase after the coronation ceremony on last week’s episode of NXT.

In a new interview with PWInsider, LA Knight talked about the idea of getting his version of WWF Veteran Virgil, who worked as DiBiase’s bodyguard & servant from 1987 until he turned on Ted at the 1991 Royal Rumble PPV.

Here’s what the new Million Dollar Champion had to say:

“Well, I’m actually taking applications as we speak. I’ve got a full line of recruits coming in who want to take over that. But if somebody meets the challenge, then perhaps that’ll happen. But if nobody meets the criteria, then I might just have to keep rolling solo.”

• Old School WWF Legend Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 58th birthday of Old School WWF Legend Earthquake (Real name: John Tenta).

The former Sumo Wrestling Champion joined the World Wrestling Federation in 1989 as “The Canadian Earthquake”, which was later shortened to just “Earthquake”.

In 1991, he formed a Tag Team called “The Natural Disasters” with Tugboat, who became known as Typhoon, and together they won the WWF World Tag Team Championship.

By 1994, he had left the Federation and joined Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling, where he became known as “Avalanche”, then “Shark” and later under his real name, John Tenta.

Tenta had one last run for the WWF in 1998 & 1999 as the masked “Golga”, but later returned for one night at WrestleMania X-Seven, where he entered the famous Gimmick Battle Royal.

Earthquake getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame is actually only a matter of when, not if.
