Brock Lesnar as WWE World Heavyweight Champion

On this day in Pro Wrestling history in 2014, WWE SummerSlam 2014 took place.

This PPV marked the beginning of a new era as WWE debuted a new company logo and retired the scratch logo. This was also the first SummerSlam PPV to air on the WWE Network.

On this PPV, Stephanie McMahon returned to action for the first time in 11 years, when she faced Brie Bella. Stephanie won the match when Nikki Bella turned heel and attacked her sister. Also on this PPV, Brock Lesnar destroyed John Cena to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. This was Brock Lesnar’s first WWE World Title reign in 10 years. Lesnar held the title till WrestleMania 31.
