On This Day In Pro Wrestling History – July 23, 2012


On this day in Pro Wrestling history in 2012, WWE Monday Night Raw’s 1000th episode took place from Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri with 18,308 fans in attendance.

This show marked the beginning of permanent 3 hour Raws.

On this show, DX reunited, The Rock announced that he will wrestle the WWE Champion at Royal Rumble 2013, The Undertaker returned, John Cena became the first person ever to unsuccesfully cash-in the Money in the Bank briefcase, and CM Punk turned heel.

* Rey Mysterio, Sheamus & Sin Cara def. Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler.
* Brodus Clay def. Jack Swagger.
* The Miz def. Christian to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
* Lita def. Heath Slater in a no disqualification match.
* John Cena def. CM Punk by DQ after Big Show interfered. Punk retains the title. The Rock comes out to save Cena from Big Show, Punk ends up attacking the Rock and turned heel.
