On this day in Pro Wrestling history in 1999, WWF King of the Ring PPV took place. Billy Gunn was crowned the King of the Ring at this PPV when he defeated X-Pac in the finals of the tournament.

The Undertaker defeated The Rock to retain the WWF World Title. The main event saw Vince & Shane McMahon defeat Stone Cold Steve Austin in a 2 on 1 handicap ladder match to regain control of WWF. Below are the results from the PPV:

* The Hardy Boyz (with Michael Hayes) defeated The Brood (Edge & Christian) (with Gangrel) to become the #1 contenders for the WWF World Tag Team Titles

* Billy Gunn defeated Kane in a King of the Ring Tournament Semi-Final Match
* X-Pac defeated Road Dogg in a King of the Ring Tournament Semi-Final Match
* The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer) defeated The Rock to retain the WWF Title
* Billy Gunn defeated X-Pac in the Finals to win the King of the Ring Tournament
* Vince & Shane McMahon defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin in a Handicap Ladder Match to regain control of the WWF
