On This Day In Wrestling History – March 18, 2001

On this day in wrestling history in 2001, WCW’s final PPV Greed took place. As we know, WCW was purchased by WWF.

The main event of the PPV featured a Falls Count Anywhere match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship between Scott Steiner & Diamond Dallas Page. Steiner defeated DDP to retain the World Title.

In other title matches, Booker T defeated Rick Steiner to become the new WCW United States Champion, Shane Helms defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. to become the new WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Elix Skipper & Kid Romeo defeated The Filthy Animals to become the 1st ever WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions and The Natural Born Thrillers defeated Totally Buff to retain the WCW World Tag Team Championship.
