• ON THIS DAY IN WWF HISTORY (March 9, 1993) – WWF TV-Tapings *The Toxic Turtles*
On this day in 1993, the World Wrestling Federation taped 3 future TV episodes for their weekly syndicated show ‘WWF Wrestling Challenge’, but also featured some untelevised matches exclusively for the audience in the arenathat night. Two of them were later released on VHS/DVD.
During the tapings, they also taped several matches for their ‘WWF Mania’ and ‘WWF All American Wrestling’ TV shows, but there were also quite a few dark matches that night, which were either taped for Coliseum Video or never saw the light of the day.
The infamous Toxic Turtles match was not released until 24 years later, when the match made it onto the ‘WWE Unreleased – Never Before Seen Matches 1986-1995’ DVD set in 2017.
While Barry Hardy and Duane Gill were used almost every week at that time in 1993, it was literally their only appearance ever under the Turtles costume.
