Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, featuring Rhea Ripley and Dustin Rhodes.

• Rhea Ripley returned to WWE programming on last week’s RAW and she’s set to face Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam 2024.

According to PWInsider, the original plan was for Ripley to return at SummerSlam or the RAW after SummerSlam, but Ripley was confident about being able to wrestle at the biggest event of the summer, so WWE preponed the plan.

“We are also told that initially, there was talk of Ripley returning to storylines at SummerSlam or the RAW the day after, but instead the decision was made to go with her vs. Morgan at SummerSlam, in part because we are told by sources that Ripley voiced that she believed she would be good to go by the August event, one of the biggest shows of WWE’s calendar.”

Ripley is currently not 100% cleared and won’t wrestle until SummerSlam.

• A fan posted the following on X:

“So, Rumor Has It That Dustin Rhodes Is Expected To Leave AEW When His Contract Expires This Coming September Of 2024.

If This Is True, I’m Sure Dustin Just Wants To Be With His Brother Cody Rhodes Or Focus On Other Things, Such As His Wrestling School.”

Dustin saw this and replied:

“Wrong! Jeeze guys, do better. Yes my contract is up in September, and No, I am absolutely NOT DONE. Having the best matches of my life and hopefully, God willing I will get to retire on my own terms, respected with a full heart. Hopefully Negotiations go well because I am damn worth the world.

The only things that matter to me are: taking care of my family first and foremost, and finishing up when I am ready, and how I envision my retirement.

So hold off guys. This biz is my life and I love doing it for you, while still having fun and able.

#KeepSteppin and thank you all for your continued love and support!”

Dustin last competed on the June 12th episode of AEW Dynamite, where he lost to Jack Perry.
