Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day, involving Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, Ric Flair and Sting.
• On last night’s RAW, Dominik Mysterio apologized to Rhea Ripley for the Liv Morgan situation, but Mami wasn’t interested in Dominik’s apology.
Later in the show, Dominik faced Jey Uso. Liv came out during the match and Dominik fell on top of her again. Liv then got on top of Dominik and was enjoying herself. Rhea came out and chased her away. Rhea then told Dominik to go back into the ring. Jey took advantage of a distracted Dominik and picked up the win.
After losing to Jey, Dirty Dom met Rhea backstage. Rhea told Dominik she doesn’t belong to anyone, but Dominik is hers. She gave him a flower and left. They are a couple again.
This morning, Rhea shared the following statement on her Instagram story:
“I don’t think women are becoming heartless. I think they are becoming more aware of what they deserve and how they want to be treated.”
Ripley will face Morgan for the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam 2024.

• Ric Flair shared a pitch he made for Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution 2024. Flair joined Sting in the final months of his wrestling career and made his last appearance during Sting and Darby Allin’s tag team match against The Young Bucks.
Flair detailed his idea on Busted Open Radio, suggesting a nostalgic finish that would reference their first match from over 30 years ago. Flair explained, “I wanted those guys to have the same match, but at the end, instead of leaving me laying there like that, just keep me on the outside the whole time, and at the end when Sting is standing there and those guys are gone, I jump on Sting. He does one big move to me, puts the Scorpion (Deathlock) on me and we go out the way we started.”
However, AEW didn’t pursue Flair’s idea. Flair mentioned, “I haven’t heard back from them since. [They said] ‘Ric that’s a good idea. We’ll call you later on.'”
Flair also noted that AEW President Tony Khan advised him not to get too involved due to his health concerns, specifically a blood clot. Flair humorously recalled Khan’s repeated requests, “Do not cut yourself. Please,” and expressed his belief that the proposed finish would have been a crowd-pleaser and given him a storyline direction as a heel.
Recent reports indicate that Flair is unlikely to return to AEW, and his Woooooo Energy drink sponsorship is also reportedly concluded.
