• Original Plan For The Hardys’ AEW World Tag Team Title Reign
Before Jeff Hardy got arrested for DUI, him and Matt Hardy (they are called The Hardys in AEW, not Hardy Boyz) were scheduled to compete in a Triple Threat Ladder Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
However, The Hardys got pulled from this match due to what Jeff did.
Young Bucks then went on to defeat Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus to win the AEW World Tag Team Titles for the second time in their career.
On this Wednesday’s episode AEW Dynamite, Young Bucks lost the Titles to the team of Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland.
According to the Wrestling Observer, The Hardys were scheduled to be in Young Bucks’ place.
Jeff & Matt were scheduled to win the Tag Team Titles in the Ladder Match and they were also scheduled to have a short reign with the Titles, where they would’ve put over Lee & Strickland.
Here’s what The Observer reported about the pairing of Lee & Strickland:
“When Jeff Hardy had his issue and the Young Bucks got the Tag Titles, necessary since it was the Christian turn on Jungle Boy plan, [The Hardys] were set to immediately lose to Lee & Strickland.
The feeling has been that Lee & Strickland have had tremendous matches and they are going with this Shaq/Kobe idea of the large, charismatic upbeat guy with the other superstar on the team that don’t always get along.”
