Below are a couple of top TNA & AEW news stories of the day.

• In the main event of the Slammiversary 2024 PPV, Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) defeated Moose, Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, Frankie Kazarian and Joe Hendry in a 6-way elimination match to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

According to Fightful Select, Nemeth wasn’t originally intended to win the title at this pay-per-view. Despite the recent fan excitement around Joe Hendry, a victory for him was never planned either.

The original plan was for Josh Alexander to win the title for a third time, with plans dating back to June. This was around the time he had recently turned heel. However, he didn’t win the title because TNA management believed the feud between Alexander and Hendry was compelling enough without involving the championship.
