12. Possible Ending To The Intercontinental Championship Match At Extreme Rules 2017

A couple of weeks back on Raw, it was announced that Dean Ambrose will defend the Intercontinental Championship against The Miz at Extreme Rules 2017 with the stipulation being “If Ambrose gets disqualified, he will lose the Title”. WWE termed this stipulation as “bizarre”.

As we noted before, plans are for Roman Reigns to go after the Intercontinental Championship after the Extreme Rules 2017 PPV, but WWE officials want it to be a normal “babyface vs. heel” storyline and not a “babyface vs. babyface” storyline.

Due to this, WWE is planning to take the Intercontinental Title off Ambrose and put it on The Miz. With WWE officials planning to protect Ambrose as a top babyface on Raw, the DQ storyline is expected to come into play and The Miz is expected to become a 7 time Intercontinental Champion due to a DQ win.

As seen on the last episode of Raw, former NXT wrestler “The Drifter” Elias Samson made his Raw in-ring debut against Ambrose. Samson won the match via DQ when The Miz interfered and strategically attacked Samson to cause the DQ against Ambrose. So Samson ended up winning his Raw debut match via DQ.

Current plan is for Elias Samson to return the favor to The Miz at Extreme Rules 2017 and attack The Miz during his Intercontinental Title bout to cause the DQ in Miz’s favor and help him win the Title due to the stipulation of the match.
