• “Our generation was more creative” – WWF Royal Rumble Winner On Old School vs. Modern Wrestlers

Pro wrestling has changed significantly over the years. Today’s wrestlers are highly athletic and technically skilled. Back in the day, however, many performers relied on their creativity, character work and larger-than-life personalities to make an impact in the ring.

WWE Hall of Famer ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan recently spoke to Connel Rumsey, where he compared today’s wrestling era with the time he was in the business. Here’s what he said:

“Oh yeah, the kids nowadays, I think our generation was more creative, this generation is better athletes and more businesslike, but our generation we came up with our own stuff.

I saw that transition of wrestling, I was working for WWF at high school gyms and national guard armories, and then I signed with WWE and we’re doing the Pontiac Silverdome and Wembley Stadium. I saw the transition of wrestling go from a small business to the worldwide monster it is now.”

Duggan, the first-ever Royal Rumble winner, signed a Legends contract with WWE earlier this year.

• WWE Legend Nears In-Ring Return

Rey Mysterio has been sidelined since April after sustaining a groin injury during a 6-Man Tag Team Match on the SmackDown before WrestleMania 41. The WWE Hall of Famer was originally set to face El Grande Americano at the Show of Shows, but his injury forced him out, with Rey Fenix stepping in as his replacement.

According to PWInsider, Mysterio is expected to be at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando this week as he works toward receiving medical clearance to return to the ring.

The Master of the 619 was recently seen at WWE x AAA: Worlds Collide, where he presented his son Dominik Mysterio with the AAA Mega Championship.

• Shawn Michaels Strongly Opposed TNA Star’s WWE Release

On last night’s episode of NXT, Ethan Page was confronted by TNA star Mustafa Ali, who said he had spoken to Ava and Santino Marella. Ali announced he would face Page next week for the NXT North American Championship, a match he had been denied two years ago due to his release from WWE.

According to Fightful Select, Ali’s promo drew positive reactions from talent in both NXT and TNA. They also reported that Shawn Michaels strongly opposed Ali’s WWE release in 2023 and even had creative plans in place for him, which included a run as the North American Champion.

Ali was reportedly so confident in the direction that he even had championship gear prepared for that role.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has faced increased scrutiny in 2025 as deportations have risen, sparking controversy over the agency’s actions. Critics say ICE has unfairly targeted people without criminal records, while supporters argue it is enforcing immigration laws.

During last night’s 6-Year Anniversary special episode of AEW Dynamite, multiple advertisements for ICE aired on HBO Max, which encouraged Americans to join the agency.

AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page was not happy with the ads airing during Dynamite. He took to Bluesky to express his frustration and posted the following:

“f**k ice airing commercials during dynamite, let em know:”

He also shared links directing fans to submit complaints to both HBO Max and TBS about the controversial ads.

• Why WWE Couldn’t Stop Andrade From Joining AEW Immediately

Last night’s 6-Year Anniversary special episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with Kenny Omega and Brodido vs. Josh Alexander and The Young Bucks in a Trios Match. The Cleaner’s team got the win after which Alexander and The Young Bucks attacked him.

Jurassic Express came out to make the save after which Jack Perry and Kenny Omega had a heated moment. Suddenly, the lights went out and Andrade showed up in a mask to blindside Omega. El Idolo then confirmed his alliance with Don Callis.

As per Fightful Select, Andrade has signed a full-time contract with AEW. His return had been in the work for a couple of weeks. He was able to return to the company less than a month after his WWE release because there was no non-compete clause in his contract.

Released WWE talents usually have a 90-day non-compete clause in their contracts, preventing them from wrestling for another company during that time.

Andrade was released by WWE due to disciplinary issues. He last appeared for the company in a TLC Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam earlier this year.

El Idolo first left WWE in 2021 to join AEW later that year. He then parted ways with Tony Khan’s promotion at the end of 2023 and joined WWE in 2024. He is now All Elite once again after his second departure from WWE last month.

Here’s what he tweeted about his return to AEW:

“Business!!”
