WWE RAW Commentator Pat McAfee recently found himself in hot water following remarks made about WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark. During Monday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” McAfee referred to Clark, who plays for the Indiana Fever, as “one white b*tch for the Indiana team who is a superstar,” sparking immediate backlash.
McAfee, who was present at a weekend game where Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter committed a flagrant foul on Clark, used his show to discuss in-game rivalries and the rising popularity of the WNBA, particularly focusing on the standout rookie class which includes Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, and Kamilla Cardoso.
The segment titled “Guess Which WNBA Rookie” highlighted TV ratings and game attendance, featuring Clark, Reese, and Brink. It was during this discussion that McAfee made the controversial comment about Clark, prompting a heated reaction from viewers and media alike.
“I would like the media people that continue to say, ‘this rookie class, this rookie class, this rookie class.’ Nah, just call it for what it is, there’s one white b*tch for the Indiana team who is a superstar,” McAfee said.

He defended his remarks by emphasizing Clark’s impressive college career and her electrifying presence on the court, while criticizing narratives that attribute her popularity solely to her race.
Following the backlash, McAfee took to social media to issue an apology. “I shouldn’t have used ‘white b*tch’ as a descriptor of Caitlin Clark. No matter the context… I have way too much respect for her and women to put that into the universe,” he wrote on X. He revealed that he had also sent a personal apology to Clark.
The next day, McAfee opened his show by addressing the controversy, admitting his mistake and apologizing once more:
“Obviously that’s a massive f**k-up on my end. I apologize for that. I did reach out to Caitlin Clark through the Fever (public relations), sent an apology and then got a message back that she said it was all good. No blood. We move forward.
And she appreciates us reaching out and apologizing. So that obviously makes me feel a little bit better. But to the people that got pi$$ed off yesterday and offended, I understand. I learned a lot.”
