• Plans Have Changed For WrestleMania 39 – Night 1 Main Event
The Wrestling Observer previously reported that WWE wants the SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley to main event Night 1 of WrestleMania 39 due to political reasons.
A Women’s match didn’t main event either night of WrestleMania last year, so they wanted to do it this year.
However, it looks like a women’s match won’t main event any night of WrestleMania this year either.
During an interview with UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier for ESPN, Kevin Owens revealed that him and Sami Zayn taking on The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship will main event Night 1.
Below is the card for Night 1 in no particular order (except the only officially known thing: John Cena vs. Austin Theory will be the opening match):
– United States Championship Match: Austin Theory (c) vs. John Cena
– SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
– Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn
– Trish Stratus and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Lita & Becky Lynch vs. Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY)
– Seth Rollins vs. Logan Paul
– Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio
– Men’s WrestleMania Showcase Match: Braun Strowman & Ricochet vs. The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy vs. The Viking Raiders
