Cody Rhodes tried to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship on the post-Money In The Bank episode of RAW.
However, he was interrupted by Brock Lesnar, which led to a brawl between them. Cody has challenged Brock to a rubber match at SummerSlam 2023.
It looks like Cody could go after the World Heavyweight Title after SummerSlam, if he manages to defeat The Beast.
During an interview with USA Today, Rollins said he’d love to defend the World Title against The American Nightmare:
“We’re defending it in every city in every town all across the world. It’s going to be everywhere I’m going to be. Anytime that title can be defended, it will be defended and I’ll be there to defend it.
I would love for Cody Rhodes come try to take it from me. If he can survive Brock Lesnar, I would love for him to try to. I’m better than I’ve ever been; he don’t stand a chance.”
Cody defeated Seth 3 times in PPV matches last year, including inside Hell in a Cell with a torn pec injury.
Rollins is expected to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Judgment Day’s Finn Balor at SummerSlam 2023.
Rollins beat Balor to retain the World Title at Money In The Bank 2023, but Balor was distracted by Mr. Money In The Bank Damian Priest during the ending moments of the match.
