According to Tom Colohue, WWE is going to end the Wild Card Rule after SummerSlam 2019.

However, don’t expect WWE to make an announcement about it. Tom Colohue noted that WWE will quietly end it:

“They’re quietly wrapping up the wild card rule. No big announcement or anything. There’s a lot of people who want it to end. Companies, sponsors, management and talent. You don’t get another Lynch and Rousey moment without that Survivor Series format.”

Vince McMahon introduced the Wild Card Rule to have top stars work both RAW & SmackDown and help with the TV ratings.

However, with SmackDown moving to FOX in October, this rule was bound to come to an end eventually.
