In a dramatic twist that has had both fans and fellow wrestlers talking, R-Truth is officially back with WWE—just days after word of his apparent departure had circulated online. According to Fightful Select, the situation was not part of a storyline, despite speculation following his return at Money In The Bank. Truth made a shocking comeback at the end of the premium live event, attacking Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena in a move that stunned the audience. This happened only a week after R-Truth announced what he described as his “release” from WWE, and multiple outlets confirmed at the time that his contract was not being renewed.
R-Truth Reveals Why WWE Brought Him Back
Despite Triple H saying on the Money In The Bank post-show that R-Truth’s departure was a work, Truth confirmed himself that it wasn’t. A fan tweeted the following:
“Ima say this and be done. Wrestling as a collective, fans and wrestlers TOGETHER, used their voices to help get a Black man’s job back in less than a WEEK!! Thats why the ‘how’ is important to ME. 22 million views and broken hearts… Change was made. Period.”
R-Truth replied and revealed why WWE brought him back:
“No [cap] #WeWantTruth was seen, heard, felt and understood… Believe me when I say this, I Love EVERYONE of yall to death. We made history together.”
R-Truth Was Disgusted By How WWE Told Him About His Departure
Behind the scenes, wrestlers and sources told Fightful that R-Truth’s exit was very real. They described him as “shocked and kind of disgusted” by the release, with one performer calling it “not a work.” Emotions reportedly ran high backstage, with one wrestler saying there were “many tears” because Truth was gone.
Adding to the confusion was the manner in which the release was handled. “It felt very cold and impersonal,” one talent shared, pointing out that it came from a talent relations employee and not from WWE’s higher-ups. Truth reportedly ignored WWE’s attempts to contact him throughout the week—until WWE President Nick Khan reached out personally and helped broker a new deal. According to sources, both sides eventually “met halfway.”
R-Truth’s Friends and Family Push Back on WWE’s Narrative
After Triple H publicly said that the entire exit-and-return story was a part of WWE’s creative direction, multiple voices within the company disagreed. One veteran coworker of R-Truth told Fightful, “Ronnie wouldn’t do that. If he had to maintain a work like that, he’d just ask us not to say anything. He would never lie to us about that.” The source added, “Paul (Levesque) also knows that lying to or working the locker room is horrible taste.”
Even R-Truth’s son pushed back, posting a “cap” emoji in response to suggestions that it was all an angle—signaling that the claims were false. Another talent reacted by saying, “See? You can’t control all of these conversations.”
Triple H Isn’t Happy
Another veteran added, “I can tell Hunter doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like the fans hijacking creative,” while also voicing doubt that the whole ordeal was planned ahead of time.
R-Truth’s WWE Return Sparks Joy in the Locker Room
Now that R-Truth is back in WWE, the mood backstage has changed completely. One performer summed it up emotionally: “It’s hard to feel good when we fired Santa Claus.”
According to Fightful, the general sentiment among talent is simple—they’re just happy to have him around again.
