On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 24, 1999, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California.
WWF promoter Vince McMahon Jr. not only entered this 30-man Royal Rumble match, he did so as the #2 entrant, and – which is much more shocking – even won it.

• Old School Wrestling Veteran Would Celebrate His Birthday
Today would have been the 53rd birthday of Old School ECW/WCW/WWF Veteran Mike Awesome (Real name: Michael Lee Alfonso).
Mike Awesome was the real life cousin of Hulk Hogan’s nephew Horace Hogan (Michael Bollea).

• Raw Star Getting A Major Push, To Be Involved In A Big Match At WrestleMania 34
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, new Intercontinental Champion The Miz is in-line for a major push and is scheduled to be involved in a big match at WrestleMania 34.
No word yet on who his opponent is going to be, but his major push has to do with his upcoming “Miz & Mrs.” reality show on the USA Network.
The Miz was involved in a mixed tag team match at last year’s WrestleMania, where he teamed up with his wife Maryse to take on the team of John Cena & Nikki Bella. Miz & Maryse lost that match.
