On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 24, 1993, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California.
This marks the very first Royal Rumble with the rule that the winner of the actual Royal Rumble match wins the right to wrestle the World Champion at WrestleMania.
This rule has been used in every single Royal Rumble match since that day.
Giant Gonzalez (former WCW Wrestler El Gigante) made his WWF debut that night, when he attacked The Undertaker.

• Rumor Killer On Top WWE Star Getting Punished For Recent Story
As seen on this week’s Raw 25, “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns lost the Intercontinental Championship to The Miz. The finish came when The Miz nailed a Skull Crushing Finale on Reigns when he went face-first into an exposed turnbuckle (which was done by The Miz).

Many people are speculating that WWE officials are punishing Reigns for the recent steroid allegations against him. However, that’s not the case. WWE booked Reigns to lose the Title because they had to take the title off him so that he can enter himself into the Universal Title picture moving forward.
Also, the steroid allegations is considered a non-story backstage in WWE.
Current plan for the WrestleMania 34 main event is for Roman Reigns to challenege Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.
