Former United States Champion & RAW Tag Team Champion Matt Riddle was the last wrestler released from WWE during the recent releases.

Riddle confirmed this news by tweeting the following:

“Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon 🤙”

Riddle recently alleged that he was sexually assaulted at the JFK Airport in Queens, New York.

He was sent into rehab after violating WWE’s Wellness Policy twice last year and returned on the RAW after WrestleMania 39 earlier this year.

WWE didn’t have any solid plans for Riddle since his return, and he had subtly expressed his disappointment over his booking in the company on social media a few times.

Fightful Select reported the following about Riddle’s release from WWE:

“Those we’ve spoken to claimed that since then, Riddle was not factored into immediate creative plans. He was doing some grappling training per usual this week, and was said to be in good spirits before his release. However, one WWE higher up said that he burned through too many chances while in WWE.”

In an update, veteran journalist Bill Apter reported the following about Riddle’s release from WWE:

“I found out through many sources that one of the reasons that Matt Riddle was let go wasn’t just the JFK Airport incident. But Dana White has come out and said that he was a problem kid in MMA back then. And now that the companies have merged with each other, it was a joint decision that if it is worth having this kid maybe give us some trouble here.”

Riddle was also fired from the UFC, 10 years ago. An old interview of UFC President Dana White addressing Riddle’s release from the #1 MMA promotion has resurfaced, where White said the following about The Original Bro:

“The reason he’s not in the UFC anymore is because he could not pass a drug test. The guy couldn’t pass a drug test. Think about this, you have to go to work three times a year, and you couldn’t pass a drug test?

You’re so weak-minded and so addicted to marijuana, that you couldn’t stay off it to pass a drug test three times a year. Well, guess what dummy, they drug test in the real world too.”
