• Reason Behind Andrade Not Dropping The US Title Despite Getting Suspended

As we noted last night, ProWrestlingSheet reported that current United States Champion Andrade has been suspended for 30 days from WWE due to his 1st violation of the WWE Wellness Policy:

“Sources tell us Andrade – real name Manuel Oropeza – was told of the suspension this morning. It’s unclear what substance he tested positive for at this time.”

As seen on last night’s RAW, Andrade defended his US Title against Humberto Carrillo and retained the Title via DQ.

After the match, Carrillo DDTed Andrade on the concrete floor and this was done to write Andrade off WWE programming for 30 days (similar to how Roman Reigns destroyed Robert Roode a while back, so that WWE could write him off TV because he was also suspended for Wellness Policy Violation).

Despite getting suspended, Andrade didn’t drop the Title (which would usually be the case – like Roman Reigns had to in 2016).

According to the Wrestling Observer, Paul Heyman played a role in Andrade still being the United States Champion even after suspension:

“Andrade is suspended that’s why they did the angle where Humberto Carrillo DDT’ed him on the concrete to explain him being out for the 30 days and the decision was made — it was a Paul Heyman decision — to keep the title on Andrade.

The usual protocol would be for him to lose the title as well, but Heyman is very high on Andrade and felt it was too early to put the title on Carrillo.”
