• Reason Behind Bobby Lashley Winning The Intercontinental Title

As seen on this week’s episode of RAW, Bobby Lashley defeated Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to win the Intercontinental Championship.

Lashley winning the Intercontinental Championship had to do with plans for other RAW Superstars.

According to Dirty Sheets, plan for Seth Rollins was for him to move out of the Intercontinental Title picture, win the Men’s Royal Rumble 2019 match and then feud with Bobby Lashley until his WrestleMania 35 feud with Universal Champion Brock Lesnar can begin.

This would’ve then led to Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose feuding with Finn Balor.

However, with Braun Strowman being taken out of the Universal Title match at Royal Rumble 2019 and being replaced with Finn Balor, WWE officials changed some plans.

WWE officials decided to put the Title on Lashley and Rollins will now feud with Ambrose (who was scheduled to feud with Balor) on the Road to WrestleMania 35. This means that Rollins will now be able to defeat Ambrose as the Intercontinental Title won’t be on the line.

Dirty Sheets also noted that WWE officials decided to put the Title on Lashley instead of having Ambrose feud with some other babyface (like Elias) to please the black WWE fans, as some of them were upset with the return of Hulk Hogan (who returned on RAW last week to pay tribute to his late friend Gene Okerlund).

WWE received some criticism on Social Media (mainly by black WWE fans) when WWE went on to promote Hogan’s merchandise online before Hogan’s RAW return.
