Reason Behind Originally Planned WrestleMania 33 Match Being Cancelled

Big Show

As we noted during this week’s episode of Raw, former WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day noted that The Big Show will have the opportunity to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal for the second time at WrestleMania 33.

This means that the originally planned WrestleMania 33 match between The Big Show & Shaquille O’Neal is now officially cancelled.

This comes despite Shaq recently announcing on his podcast that the plans for his WrestleMania 33 match were back on the table:

“I’ve talked to somebody high up in the organization, and they – we’re back talking again. I just want the people to know it had nothing to do with me, despite what you hear.”

While Big Show has said in recent interviews that the reason for the match not taking place has to do with Shaq’s physical shape and him not taking the match seriously, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer doesn’t think so.

Meltzer noted how Shaq is very well off financially and the money that WWE offered him for the match wasn’t worth his troubles.
