Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring WWE RAW and AEW Rampage.
• WWE announced that as of October 7, 2024, Monday Night RAW will return to a two-hour format, ending its three-hour runtime that began in 2012. This change will last until the end of December, before RAW moves to Netflix in January.
According to the Wrestling Observer, the shift is due to WWE’s original TV deal with USA Network expiring in October. The extension deal was for a two-hour show, which could potentially boost viewership by eliminating the lower-rated third hour.
It should be noted that “almost nobody in the company as far as talent” knew about the change before it was announced.
Once RAW moves to Netflix, its runtime is expected to fluctuate, likely averaging around three hours, as the platform offers more flexibility without the constraints of weekly television schedules.
