Below are some top AEW news stories of the day, involving Tony Khan, Jeff Jarrett and more.
• AEW has scrapped plans for a major storyline involving Jeff Jarrett’s pursuit of one final World Championship as a babyface, a decision reportedly made after Tony Khan acknowledged the storyline’s lack of resonance with fans.
The planned angle, which would have seen Jarrett making a determined run for the top title, was met with a lukewarm reception, leading to its swift cancellation.
According to Fightful Select, the decision was based on the realization that the storyline “didn’t work, wasn’t good and they moved away from it.”
This abrupt change in direction highlights AEW’s responsiveness to fan feedback and its willingness to adjust creative plans when necessary. The company’s decision to abandon the storyline demonstrates a commitment to delivering compelling content that resonates with its audience.
While the specifics of the scrapped angle remain undisclosed, the move signals a shift in focus for Jeff Jarrett’s character and storyline trajectory within AEW.

• On the Fightful Select Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp talked about AEW’s recent attendance and TV viewership:
“They are turning the corner with attendance and popularity. This year’s Revolution was the second highest attended Revolution they ever had. We’re talking like Orlando, Chicago, San Francisco… LA beat all those except Greensboro, which was Sting’s final match.
For the last 2-3 months of the previous era of AEW Dynamite, their TV viewership was between 523,000 to 666,000 viewers. Now, they simulcast and we do not get those numbers reported for MAX, and they have been steadily between that number still on cable while being simulcast on MAX.
Every poll that I have taken has a huge chunk of that viewership on MAX. So they are staying steady, they’re slowly doing better shows.”
