• Reason Behind WWE Being Hit With A $100,000 Fine At WrestleMania 35

WrestleMania is getting longer every year and this year’s WrestleMania 35 PPV became the longest PPV ever in WWF/E history as it lasted a total of 7.5 hours (pre-show + main show).

While fans don’t seem to find logic behind WWE putting on such a long show, but there is.

According to The Dirty Sheets, WWE has one major metric that they put out to their investors and their stock holders – Hours of WWE Network viewership.

If WrestleMania is a 6 hour show viewed by approximately 2 million subscribers, this comes to 12 million hours of viewership. Now by going up to 8 hours of WrestleMania, they increase that to 16 million hours of viewership.

The monthly target for WWE at the moment is 60 million hours of viewership per month. In order to reach that number, they would need every person who has the WWE Network to watch 1 hour a day.

At the moment, they are falling short of that because a lot of people only watch the PPVs (which happen once a month, so WWE wants to make those shows as long as possible to increase the hours of WWE Network viewership).

Now if WWE wants more hours of WWE Network viewership, then why was time cut from some matches?

It was due to the building and the state of New Jersey. For every 30 minutes the WWE went over their allotted time, they would face a $100,000 fine.

WWE were hit with one $100,000 fine and then they managed to finish the show before another fine.

WWE most probably didn’t mind facing this fine as they made a $16 million gate for WrestleMania 35, which is one of the biggest in company’s history.

For those who don’t know, time was cut from the following WrestleMania 35 matches:

– Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre

– Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio

– Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair (about 10 minutes from this one)
