• Reason Behind WWE Changing Buddy Murphy’s Name

RAW Tag Team Champion Buddy Murphy is the latest WWE Superstar to have his name changed.

His name has been shortened to just “Murphy”. This change has been updated on his WWE.com profile too:

Buddy Murphy's name changed to Murphy February 2020

According to ProWrestlingSheet, WWE shortened Murphy’s name so that he could fit in Seth Rollins’ heel stable:

“Sources tell us the change was made because the name ‘Buddy’ didn’t sound like the name of a disciple, so the decision was made to drop it in order for the wrestler to fit with Seth Rollins’ new group.”
