• Reason Behind WWE Shortening Matt Riddle’s Name

WWE RAW’s Matt Riddle is the latest wrestler to undergo a name change and lose his first name. He’s now just being referred to as “Riddle“.

WWE’s website also changed his name. You can view a screenshot of it below:

Here’s what Riddle had to say about this change:

“People it’s okay I’ve been called Riddle most my life, I actually prefer it and it’s my real last name 🤙 #bro #stallion #RIDDLE”

According to the Wrestling Observer, Riddle’s lawsuit with Candy Cartwright played a role in WWE shortening his name:

“The company made the decision to drop Matt Riddle’s first name, and now he’s just ‘Riddle’. The story was that they wanted to not have people google ‘Matt Riddle’ and come up with the details of the lawsuit against him and WWE.

The decision was made on October 29th and Riddle said he was fine with it and even preferred it saying Riddle is his name and he’s been called it for most of his life.”

• Old School WWF Veteran Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF Veteran Billy Gunn celebrates his 57th birthday today.

In 1993, Billy Gunn had his World Wrestling Federation debut as one half of The Smoking Gunns, alongside his (kayfabe) brother Bart Gunn.

They split in 1996, which led to Billy Gunn joining “The Road Dogg” Jesse James in 1997 to form The New Age Outlaws and both became members of D-Generation X in 1998.

Billy stayed with the WWF (later World Wrestling Entertainment) until 2004, then went to Total Nonstop Action! from 2005 to 2009 and eventually returned to the WWE.

In 2019, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of D-Generation X.
