AEW recently ended the partnership between Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway, which had been a significant part of Statlander’s character development.
On the October 4th episode of AEW Rampage, Statlander announced she was going solo and was confronted by Mercedes Mone and Kamille.
The move surprised fans, especially since Statlander had been working with Hathaway after betraying Willow Nightingale at AEW Double or Nothing.
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, the decision to drop the partnership was because
“there wasn’t an option to continue that story.”
Statlander is now expected to challenge Mone for the TBS title, with the two having already engaged in an angle on AEW Collision on October 5, where Kamille attacked Statlander.
Meanwhile, Hathaway was seen at ringside for Private Party’s match during AEW Dynamite.
Fans are hopeful that Statlander and Hathaway might reunite in the future, but for now, both will be pursuing separate storylines.
Kris Statlander first joined Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling on the November 19, 2019 episode of AEW Dark.
