• Replacement Announced For #1 Contenders Match On SmackDown
On last week’s episode of SmackDown, multiple men came out and said they want a shot at Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39.
WWE then announced the following Fatal 5-Way Intercontinental Championship Qualifying Match, which will take place on tonight’s SmackDown:
Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus vs. LA Knight vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Karrion Kross
According to the Wrestling Observer, Kofi got injured during the brawl on SmackDown and it’s serious.
He’s going to miss WrestleMania 39. However, since Triple H wants a small card for the Show of Shows, Kofi was likely not going to be in a match at WrestleMania Hollywood anyways.
WWE has now announced that Kofi has been replaced by Xavier Woods in this match.
Woods tweeted the following about being added to this bout:
“In all my time on the main roster I have never once had a match where a singles title was on the line. I’ve beaten men while they held World and Universal Championships. I even won King of the Ring. Still no shot. Tomorrow I do everything I can to get one.”
