• Old School Tag Team Wrestling Veteran Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 54th birthday of Old School Tag Team Wrestling Veteran Johnny Grunge (Real name: Michael Durham).

Grunge was one half of the famous 90s Tag Team ‘Public Enemy’ with “Flyboy” Rocco Rock, and together they wrestled for all 3 big promotions, the World Wrestling Federation (1999), Extreme Championship Wrestling (1993-1996 & 1999) & World Championship Wrestling (1996-1998 & 1999).

At the 2005 ECW reunion show ‘Hardcore Homecoming’, he participated in a memorial segment for deceased ECW wrestlers, that included his late tag team partner, who passed away in 2002.

• Rey Mysterio Reportedly Hasn’t Accepted WWE’s Reasoning Behind Not Getting A Pay Raise

As we noted last week, Rey Mysterio’s contract with WWE has ended and he’s working with the company on a verbal deal currently.

The Wrestling Observer reported that Mysterio asked the company for a pay raise, but they denied his request because of their financial situation due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

It’s a known fact that WWE hasn’t faced any major losses after they made the budget cuts in April. They’re actually experiencing a very beneficial year despite the pandemic (with Vince McMahon’s worth increasing by 10%).

In an update to the previous report, the Wrestling Observer noted that Mysterio denied WWE’s reasoning of not giving him a raise, because he knows that the company is expecting high profits due to their TV deals with FOX and USA. He also considers himself worthy for a raise because he’s a top talent.

WWE and Mysterio haven’t worked out a deal yet, but it’s likely they’ll work it out soon. In case they’re not able to do so, WWE may write him off TV by getting his eye pulled out from Seth Rollins at The Horror Show At Extreme Rules (tap here to know how WWE is planning to have either Rollins’ or Mysterio’s eye pulled out).
