• Rey Mysterio Vows To Bring Back Controversial Wrestler
At AAA TripleMania, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was met with chants from the crowd for the return of Alberto Del Rio aka Alberto El Patron. Responding to the audience’s enthusiasm, Mysterio made a public vow to help bring Del Rio back to AAA, which is now a WWE-owned promotion.
Mysterio addressed the fans directly, stating, “I’ll bring him, wait on me.” The comment has since stirred up significant speculation among fans about a potential return to the company for Del Rio, who has been away from WWE for some time.
Why AAA Fans Are Booing El Hijo del Vikingo & Want Alberto Del Rio Back
In Mexico, wrestling fans have been booing AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo despite his talent, and the reason is tied to Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio is credited with helping AAA recover from financial and creative struggles. While working as a heel, he won over the crowd with his promos and began to draw significant attention.
However, when WWE got involved with AAA, things changed. WWE hurried the end of Del Rio’s title run and began pushing Vikingo as the new champion. This, along with promoting him as a “Megacampeón” before he had even won the title, led fans to believe that WWE had a vendetta against Del Rio.
This perceived interference and favoritism sparked resentment among fans, which has since been directed at Vikingo.

• WWE Bringing Back ECW PPV For Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
WWE is preparing to shake up the wrestling calendar this fall, as the company is set to run a premium live event head-to-head with one of AEW’s biggest shows of the year. According to multiple sources who spoke with POST Wrestling, WWE has locked in a PLE for Saturday, September 20, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The timing is notable, as it lands on the same date as AEW’s All Out 2025 pay-per-view, which will emanate from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. While start times for WWE’s event have yet to be confirmed, All Out is slated to kick off at 8 PM Eastern.
The Wrestling Observer reported that Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena will take place at this September 20th PLE:
“The planned main event for WWE’s September 20 PPV, going head-to-head against All Out, is Brock Lesnar vs John Cena. Which is why Brock’s not booked for Paris. Because they wanted him as a method to counterprogram AEW.”
BWE added that Lesnar vs. Cena is expected to be a Last Man Standing match.
In an update from WrestleVotes, this September 20th WWE PLE is set to be Wrestlepalooza, which as an ECW PPV in the 90s.
PWInsider added that there have been internal talks at ESPN about airing WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20. This is seen as a way to give a preview of the content that will be part of the new partnership between WWE and the network.

• Top AEW Star Teases WWE Return
On an episode of AEW Dynamite in April, Chris Jericho expressed his frustration after losing the ROH World Championship to Bandido at Dynasty. He smashed his TV with a Baseball Bat and told Big Bill & Bryan Keith that they have disappointed him too many times, and he is leaving and won’t be back until they get it together.
Multiple sources have reported that Jericho’s AEW contract is set to expire at the end of this year. An Instagram page made a post about it and they wrote that Jericho is “open to returning to WWE depending on the situation.” Jericho ended up liking this post, which has begun speculation about his future.
In March, Sean Ross Sapp noted that Jericho’s next AEW deal (if he re-signs) will likely come with a reduced salary:
“Jericho, by the end of the year when his deal is up, will probably be on an altered deal. This will be one of his first deals that goes down in money in quite a while.”
At the Horror Rock and Wrestle Fest event earlier this year, Jericho revealed that he’s open to returning to WWE in the future. Here’s what the first-ever AEW World Champion said:
“I would have considered a return to WWE before things changed. Once again, there are two teams you can play on, which is amazing, and it’s one of the reasons why I wanted to take a chance and go to AEW in the first place, it was a real gamble.
Of course I would consider going back [to WWE]. I would also consider not going back there too. It just depends on what the situation is and what’s going on with me at the time.”
Chris Jericho last appeared in WWE in 2018, at the Greatest Royal Rumble premium live event in Saudi Arabia, where he competed in the 50-man Royal Rumble match and lost.
