Former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler was signed by WWE back in 2004. On Thursday, his 19-year run ended.

2-Time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair tweeted the following about Ziggler’s release:

“Shame On Me For Being So Busy That I Haven’t Kept Up With All Of The Releases At WWE. I Just Hope That Each And Every One Of You Know That At The End Of The Day We All Love Wrestling, But It’s A Business First And Foremost. I Still After Retiring In 2008, Remember The Day That I Had To Walk Away As Being One Of The Most Difficult Days Of My Life.

And As For My Dear Friend, Dolph Ziggler, Who Has Been My Close Friend For 20 Years, You Have Been Nothing Less Than The Best Professional & The Best At Everything You Have Been Called Upon To Do. A Leader, A Champion, And A Man Of Unquestionable Character.

I’ll Never Forget The Letter You Wrote Me In The Hospital. I Know You Will Be Successful In Life Because That’s Who You Are. I Look Forward To Our Next Meeting & 2 Dirty Martinis With Extra Olives! 🍸”

The Miz wrote the following after his former on-screen rival was released from WWE:

“I consider one of the best matches of my career the Career vs Title match at No Mercy against @heelziggler. Everything leading up to that match was great.

Dolph always brought the best out of me every time we worked together. I don’t know if I’ve faced any one person more than him in my career. I’ll miss those times but excited to see what comes next for him.”

During this “No Mercy 2016” feud, Ziggler cut the best promo of his career, which was the “sometimes the things you love don’t always love you back” promo.

The Rock wrote the following about Ziggler’s release:

“Just seeing all these releases now. These days so f’n tough for the ones who gave their all to our crazy world of pro wrestling. Like Dolph Ziggler. What a decorated WWE career and I’ll always be a supporter and fan. Can’t wait to see what he (and everyone) does next… #onward”

John Cena acknowledged what a workhorse Ziggler was for WWE:

“One thousand five hundred and fifty four matches. @HEELZiggler #Respect”
