“I thought I was invincible” – Ric Flair, Update On His WWE Return Date

During a recent interview with The Charlotte Observer, two time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair talked about his health, his drinking & more. Below are the highlights:

On not drinking and a story with his Doctor:

“I could never drink again. I mean it. Never. I made a joke about it to my doctor recently. He said, ‘So what have you been doing?’ I said, ‘Eh, just been laying low, and healing up. Had a couple beers the other night.’

He looked at me and said ‘What?’ I mean, I could tell. He was pi$$ed. I said, ‘No, I’m just kidding.’ He said, ‘Ric, let me tell you something: I can’t get you through something like this again.'”

On if he misses drinking today:

“Miss drinking? No. Not at all. Ten days of not knowing where you are and being on life support? Even a guy as irresponsible as I have been, and can be, would never subject himself to that again.

So yeah. Diet Coke, man. Starbucks coffee. Venti bold. And a lot of Gatorade. Actually, when I first got out of the hospital … I couldn’t twist the top off a bottle of Gatorade. That tells you how weak I was.”

While in the hospital, asking his fiancée if he was going to make it:

“I used to say to Wendy every day, ‘You think I’m gonna make it?’ And there’s Wendy, the total picture of positivity: ‘Ric, of course you are. You’re gonna live to be 80. You’re gonna outlive me.’ Well, I used to think that, too – until August 14th. Yeah, I thought I was invincible.”

Speaking of Ric, he’s expected to return to WWE at the Starrade Live Event on November 25th.

Former Intercontinental Champion Says Nobody Hates Pro Wrestling More Than Wrestling Fans

During a recent edition of “Conversation With The Big Guy” podcast, former Intercontinental Champion Ryback talked about Kurt Angle’s WWE in-ring return at TLC 2017. Below is what he said:

“It was nice to see Kurt Angle back. I thought they did a good job -people will complain about it no matter what. Nobody hates pro wrestling more than wrestling fans.

I know there were some people that were upset that Kurt Angle came out to the Shield attire and didn’t come out in his regular outfit and music so people were unhappy about that. He came back on 3-4 days notice. Great comeback story and it was good.”
