AEW Grand Slam: Australia was a milestone event for the company, but Tony Khan was met with boos when introduced at the tapings at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Despite calling the event a “dream come true” and promising AEW would return to Australia, the negative reaction reflected fan frustrations.
Much of the backlash stemmed from AEW’s decision to move the event from Suncorp Stadium to a smaller venue without offering refunds or price adjustments for premium ticket holders.

A fan wrote the following on X:
“Tony Khan was getting booed in Brisbane, then he said Grand Slam isn’t the last time AEW would be touring Australia.
That they would return here and got instantly cheered.”
Ricochet saw this tweet and replied:
“Cause fans are idiots.”
