On the post-Night Of Champions episode of SmackDown, Roman Reigns celebrated completing 1,000 days as champion.
Triple H then awarded Reigns with the new Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
According to Sports Illustrated, WWE Officials are discussing the idea of Paul Heyman still carrying the old WWE Championship and the Universal Championship on his shoulders, despite Reigns getting a new Undisputed Championship belt.
They think this will add to Reigns’ presentation as the #1 champion in WWE and make him stand out even more from the rest of the locker room.
The Tribal Chief is scheduled to appear on this Friday’s SmackDown and it will become clear if WWE went ahead with this plan or not.
Speaking of Reigns, he will defend the Undisputed Title against WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at this Saturday’s WWE Live Event at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
During his ongoing 1,000+ day title reign, Reigns has faced Mysterio before. In 2021, Reigns defeated Mysterio in a Hell in a Cell match on an episode of SmackDown.
WWE has sold over 4,000 tickets for this untelevised House Show so far.
This will be Reigns’ first singles match and title defense since his WrestleMania 39 victory over Cody Rhodes.
Since WrestleMania 39, Reigns has only competed in one match, which took place in the main event of the Night Of Champions 2023 premium live event, where Reigns & Solo Sikoa lost to Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match.
Roman’s next televised match will take place at the Money In The Bank 2023 premium live event at the O2 Arena in London, England on July 1st.
At this PLE, he’s expected to team up with Solo Sikoa to take on The Usos.
