Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

• In the A&E Biography: WWE Legends episode on Paul Heyman, Roman Reigns reflected on watching the relationship between Brock Lesnar and Heyman over the years, particularly during his own rivalries with Lesnar.

Reigns acknowledged that their strong partnership was an inspiration to him, and he aspired to replicate their success. He confessed that he had long desired to “steal” Heyman away from Lesnar.

Although Reigns and Lesnar first faced off at WrestleMania 31, it wasn’t until 5 years later that Reigns and Heyman joined forces to start The Bloodline storyline, a collaboration that had been planned for some time.

Here’s what The Tribal Chief said:

“Watching how Paul and Brock were maneuvering at the time, it was a powerful duo, it really was. So much so, I had to snatch it.”

• CM Punk announced on last week’s RAW that he has been medically cleared to compete at SummerSlam, where he will face Drew McIntyre. This will be his first match since the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, where he got injured.

Although Punk is set to return to the ring, he may not go full throttle. Dave Meltzer reports that, with Punk having left AEW, he might not push himself as hard in his WWE matches, and he may be able to take it easier during the August 3rd PLE.

Meltzer discussed how AEW wrestlers often work extremely hard compared to WWE’s culture. Now that Punk is back with WWE, he might choose to take a more relaxed approach in his match:

“The work that he did in AEW will be different in WWE. He will do a safer style in WWE. No matter what anyone says, the standard in WWE is lower and people hate to hear that, but it is. So you don’t have to do as much.”

It should be noted that both of Punk’s official AEW World Title reigns ended due to injuries.
