3. Roman Reigns Should Be The One To Face Bray Wyatt For the WWE Title At WrestleMania 33 (Reason)

As we all know, 2017 Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton refused to face Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33. This led to SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan announce on Talking Smack that a #1 contender Battle Royal will take place next week on SmackDown Live to determine Wyatt’s WrestleMania 33 opponent.

However, a #1 contenders Battle Royal should not take place, because the Superstar that should face Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33 is none other than “The Guy” Roman Reigns. We’ll now explain the reason behind this.

After winning the 1999 Royal Rumble match, Mr. McMahon announced that he wouldn’t face WWF Champion The Rock at WrestleMania 15. This led to then WWF Commissioner Shawn Michaels noting that this will lead to Stone Cold Steve Austin (who was the runner up in the 1999 Royal Rumble match) being one to face The Rock at WrestleMania 15 because of the following rule from the “Official WWF Rule Book”:

“If the winner of The Royal Rumble is either unable or unwilling to go to WrestleMania to fight the champion, then the runner-up gets all rights and privileges.”

By this logic, Roman Reigns (the runner up of the 2017 Royal Rumble match) should be the one go goes on to face the WWE Champion Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 33.

However, it doesn’t look like WWE is keen on following Old School WWF rules.
